Two of the top questions people ask me about painting actually have nothing to do with painting at all. It seems they realize I have lots of fun and just roll with the painting punches. So much so that my wild and crazy antics make nice little ditties to read about when they want to learn a process or just hear about the fun. But, the two questions are, without fail, (1) if the stories are really true, and (2) what did the Hubs do/think?
Let me assure you, they really are true. I mean, who could make up this stuff? But, I can’t guarantee what the Hubs thinks. Most of the time, he just shakes his head and moves along. You see, this is because we live in two different DIY worlds.
I’m always hatching up some kind of scheme brilliant plan to fix or improve this or that. And, the Hubs….well….he just wants to watch TV, ride his bike, and play tennis. DIY doesn’t come naturally to him and his skills are very limited; a situation that is totally to his liking and one that I’ve come to accept.

Maybe he planned it this way or maybe it just happened, but in spite of our differences, we manage to get the job done. However, most of the time, I do the work alone. Since I’m usually figuring things out as I go, this does work best. Then Hubs can show up for the heavy lifting or run the saw in the garage.
I share this so you will know first-hand that we do not operate like the infamous Chip and JoAnna Gaines, of HGTV Fixer Upper. ……Far from it. And, that’s ok….but, in spite of our differences, we find a way to manage. And, in the end, isn’t that all that matters?
DIY Painting
So, while Hubs is out-of-the-house, I tackle whatever painting project needs attention, roll through the inevitable hilarity, and stick with it until I get it done.
Yes, it may have been easier and a lot less stressful if I got in touch with a company that provide services like house painting, but I thought, this time around, I could give it a go myself. Plus, if I did decide to ask for help, I know who to call.
One of the best stories is the time I tried DIY painting with an old chest and some homemade chalk paint.
Honestly, I used a recipe from a reputable blogger, standard plaster of Paris, and quality latex paint. Why everything went totally whackadoo is still a mystery, but to this day people leave comments saying how they identify with my troubles. And, they also say how it has helped them to have the confidence to try new things, especially new painting techniques. If you have a moment, I urge you to stop over and read this short story. At the time it was written, I didn’t realize just how crazy it really was.
But, with practice and patience from the Hubs, my skills have greatly improved. Unfortunately, the hilarious stories that accompany my painting projects remain. This one, posted just last week, still has people laughing and shaking their heads.
After this introductory posting, we will dive into whatever kind of home improvement painting you would like….walls, floors, ceilings, furniture. My house is in full renovation mode, so there will be lots of new painting projects to explore.
I’d also suggest checking out my Pinterest boards. I have boards devoted to painting just about every different painting topic imaginable and spend time every day scouring for new ideas and do-it-yourself information. It’d surely be great to have you follow along.
I understand there will be some of you that don’t want to get all messy and prefer buying rather than renovating. But don’t worry, there are hundreds of well priced furniture sites. I was recommended this glass coffee table which is BEAUTIFUL! And…it’s easy to clean. Completely fuss-free! I’m sold! Painting can get pretty stressful if you’re painting large spaces. I want to paint our house but I think I’ll hire someone like b&b painting to do it for me!
I look forward to sharing together how we can use paint to turn our houses into warm and inviting homes.
Thank you so much for stopping by……..
Until next time,
