Saving Money at Sams Club is simple, if you do it right. It can be too easy to buy things you don’t need when they are presented in a way that makes it seem like a good deal. The bottom line is, if you don’t use it – don’t buy it!
If you plan carefully, and shop according to your list – you can reap big benefits for the family. Saving money at Sam’s Club is a great way to help the family budget.
What I buy at SAMs
We have a family fishing charter business (www.FishSWFL.com) which requires a regular supply of bottled water. While it is more frugal, and green, to use refillable bottles with a water filter system, there is no getting around this expense for us. If you too have circumstances which require a bottled water purchase – SAMs Club is the place to get it. Get 40 bottles for less than $0.10 each. Only $3.98 for a case.
While not every bulk sale is a bargain, I’ve found these products to save us big bucks on the things we buy each week. The savings in comparison to the grocery store prices (even the sales) are significant enough to warrant a trip to the club at least bi-weekly or once per month.
- Cheese – 5 pound block of cheddar cheese- $13.68
- Milk – Daily Chef 2% Gallon – $3.02
- Eggs (usually better than grocery store prices)
- Tortilla Chips – 24 oz – $3.48
- 3 count of Celery Hearts – $2.68
- 6 count Avocado – $5.97 (I rarely find them under $1 each)
- Organic baby carrots – $3.98
- Chopped broccoli – $3.98
I find good deals on pork tenderloins – buy the uncut large portion & then cut into roasts and freeze. Ribs and beef are sometimes a good find as well, although I find that Walmart and Winn Dixie have the best buy on chicken. There is a bag of frozen chicken thigh portions that is a good buy – 6 lbs for $10.98 or 6 lbs of boneless chicken breasts for $13.98 in the freezer section. These can go straight from the freezer to the oven or to the crock-pot!
Corn tortillas – 80 count for only $2.68 and flour tortillas – 40 count for $3.88 are also family favorites and used in our famous Enchilada Casserole!
These are my favorite ways of saving money at SAMs Club. What are your favorites?
