Essential Oils that Fight Inflammation
Over time, I’ve built up quite the collection of essential oils. The family, though skeptical at first, automatically comes to me to find out which oils to use for a variety of ills. For myself, the oils have made a huge difference in the swelling and inflammation (and pain) I deal with on a regular basis.
If you start with one or two of these oils, you can slowly build your own supplies.
Essential Oils that Fight Inflammation
Oregano
Oregano is an herb that is a member of the mint family. It has been considered a precious plant commodity for over 2,500 years in folk medicines that originated across the globe.
This plant has a very long use in traditional medicine for treating colds, indigestion and upset stomachs. Help reverse or reduce some of these common health problems: Bacterial infections, Fungal infections, Parasites, Viruses, Inflammation, Allergies, Tumors, Indigestion, and Candida. Because it has antimicrobial properties, oregano is also used to preserve food quality during storage.
It makes a great natural antibiotic. Helpful for Managing Inflammatory Conditions (Such as IBD or Rheumatism).
How to Use Oregano
- Take one drop in a veggie cap or 4 fl. oz of liquid daily to maintain healthy immune function.
- Also, add one to two drops to a veggie capsule to support healthy respiratory function.
- Add three to four drops to a veggie capsule as a natural antibiotic.
- Diffusion: Use three to four drops in the diffuser of your choice.
- Internal use: Dilute one drop in 4 fl. oz. of liquid.
- Topical use: Dilute one to two drops with Fractionated Coconut Oil then apply to desired area.
Peppermint
One of the most versatile essential oils out there. It can be used aromatically, topically and internally to address a number of health concerns, from muscles aches and seasonal allergy symptoms, to low energy and digestive complaints. It’s also commonly used to boost energy levels and improve both skin and hair health.
According to a review conducted by the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University, peppermint has significant antimicrobial and antiviral activities. It also works as a strong antioxidant, displays anti-tumor actions in lab studies, shows anti-allergenic potential and pain-killing effects, helps to relax the gastrointestinal tract and may be chemopreventive.
How to Use Peppermint
- Use a drop of Peppermint with Lemon in water for a healthy, refreshing mouth rinse.
- Take one to two drops in a Veggie Capsule to alleviate occasional stomach upset.*
- Add a drop to your favorite smoothie recipe for a refreshing twist.
- Additionally, place one drop in palm of hand with one drop Wild Orange and one drop Frankincense and inhale for a midday pick-me-up.
- Diffusion: Use three to four drops in the diffuser of your choice.

- Topical use: Apply one to two drops to desired area. Dilute with a carrier oil to minimize any skin sensitivity.
Bergamot
Known to build confidence and enhance your mood, bergamot oil is one of the best essential oils for depression and it helps to alleviate stress and anxiety.

How to Use Bergamot
- Diffuse in the classroom, at work, or at home when stress levels or tension is high.
- Apply to the skin while showering and inhale deeply to experience its calming aroma while enjoying its purifying skin benefits.
- Change regular tea to Earl Grey with the addition of Bergamot.
- Apply to the feet before bedtime or use with doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil for a calming and relaxing massage.
