Laundry is what I like to call, “A necessary evil.”
Don’t you agree?
We have to have clean clothes everyday, but no sooner than you wash them all and attempt to get the all put away, another mountain of laundry miraculously appears.
It’s even worse when they’re your best clothes after an even or ball because you don’t want to shrink or miscolor them! I always get a laundry delivery service scottsdale because it makes my life much easier and means I don’t need to be worried about ruining my most expensive clothing!
Having clean clothes really helps makes you feel like a better person. Be it when you’re at work or when you’re sitting at home. I know for some people though, that washing work clothes can be a bit difficult. That’s why if you’re in the same boat, then you should take a look at something like this site here: www.phsbesafe.co.uk. This is a commercial laundry service, that makes washing your industrial work clothes that much easier for you.
I don’t understand how that happens, but somehow it keeps happening at my house. That is until I came up with a system to climb and conquer that mountain.

If you can’t relate to that, I’m sure you can relate to this one.
You’ve successfully washed all the dirty clothes in your home. You proceed to give yourself a pat on the back, but as you do, you turn and realize that it ALL needs to be put away. So you dutifully begin to fold clothes only to be interrupted by:
- a crying child
- the phone ringing
- the need to take chicken out of the freezer for dinner
- a squirrel
- *insert any random day-to-day activity*
Before you know it, the day has passed, and so has your desire to climb that mountain. So you tell yourself, “I’ll get to it tomorrow.” And tomorrow, the same thing happens, and the cycle continues.
I realize that was quite the story, but I have lived it and I know what it’s like to be caught in the never ending cycle of laundry.
Here are some simple tips that have helped me stay on top of the laundry in my house.
First Thing In The Morning
That’s right, you need to get up every morning and do a dance with that laundry monster. Also known as do a load of laundry when you get up each morning. There are certain things we do each morning as rituals. Like having a cup of coffee, brushing our teeth, etc. So, make laundry a permanent part of that ritual.
You know how you would feel if you didn’t have your cup of coffee when you wake up. Try and have the same feeling about your first load of laundry. Wake up, start the coffee pot, and then put a load of laundry in. Once you do it a few times, it will become habit and you won’t even have to think about it.
Family Participation
This tip is helpful if you have laundry baskets/hampers in other rooms of the house. Each night before bed, if your children are old enough, make it a part of their chores to empty all the hampers into one central hamper. That way when you wake up in the morning, it’s easy to throw a load in.
The easier you make it for yourself to get that load in each morning, the more likely you are to do it. So do everything you can to make it happen!
Don’t Procrastinate
As soon as your load of laundry has finished drying, DO NOT PUT ANOTHER LOAD OF LAUNDRY IN TO WASH! I know, this sounds counterproductive, but trust me, it’s important.
Here is the rule I go by…always put away a load before starting another one.
As you’ve probably guessed, this keeps the laundry from growing into a large pile of clean clothes that you never get around to putting away.
Everyone Gets A Basket
How will you make sure you get the first load put away before starting another?
Designate each family member a small basket. Color coding each family member would be helpful so they each know which basket is theirs.
Before we talk about dryers, I want to encourage everyone to have a dryer repair number in their phone or written down somewhere just in case anything goes wrong. If your dryer breaks during the summertime, you’ll still be able to dry your clothes outside with a gentle breeze. If it breaks during the wintertime, like mine did, you might be a little stuck. It took forever for things to dry on radiators and I did not have enough radiator space for all of the clothes I had washed. Luckily, I knew a dryer repair guy and he managed to fix it but not having a dryer for a couple of days really helped my laundry monster grow. Anyway, once the dryer stops, as you take out each piece, fold it right away and put it in the correct family member’s basket. It should only take a few minutes to do this, and then you can send each person to their room with their basket to put away their clothes. They’ll simply return the baskets when they are finished putting their clothes away so you can reload them when the next load comes out of the dryer.
If no one is home to help put their clothes away, still fold everything as you take them out of the dryer. However, instead of putting everything in separate baskets, put them in one basket that you can quickly carry from room to room and empty. You’ll still get everything put away and be ready to start your next load.
I have found that after doing this routine for a while, it starts to become second nature, and laundry doesn’t seem so overwhelming anymore. Hopefully you’ll be able to stick to this routine or any routine that helps to keep the overwhelm down and helps you stay on top of laundry.
