Save a Bundle on Groceries
Learn to plan for success by implementing a new shopping strategy that will have astounding affects on your family budget!
Coupons are fantastic and there are plenty of deal sites where you can find some great deals to save you money. With or without coupons – the following shopping strategy can change the way you shop and if implemented – will have profound effect on your family budget. You may find it ideal to use an online grocery store. Ecommerce sites have really grown in popularity recently, as a consequence of the fast and convenient service it offers. The commerce cloud offered by Salesforce helps businesses deliver this.
This one simple tip will help you save a bundle on groceries!
Are you ready?
Shop BOGO sales.
I don’t mean to shop mostly the BOGO sales, but I mean shop them like crazy – and other than shopping for fresh necessary foods (like milk, bread, eggs) shop strictly the BOGO sales.
In this way – you will get about half of the food for your family . . . for free!
For those who aren’t sure – BOGO means – Buy One Get One Free!
Be sure to check out the policies of your local store, and get familiar with their prices from week to week on the products your family uses most. This way you can be sure they aren’t raising the price of the food – before placing it on BOGO.
You will begin to plan your shopping according to what is on the BOGO sales each week. It may seem strange at first – but it will soon become second nature to shop strictly the BOGO’s. Really. It will.
The way to make this work for your family – is to buy enough of each product to last about six weeks. If your family goes through two big bags of chips each week – you’ll want to buy 12 bags of chips on BOGO – so, of course, you only pay for six of them.
You may even want to buy extra of items that don’t end up on BOGO very often. If you are a fan of certain brands like a particular type of canned beans or fruit and find it on BOGO – go ahead and stock up on them even more than the standard six weeks worth.
If it’s on BOGO and is an item your family can use – stock up! After the first couple of months go by – you will be able to start shopping almost exclusively BOGO’s (other than the fresh foods).
Now, to save even more – you’ll begin to stack those coupons you’ve been gathering from the newspapers and printing from our FrugalMommas coupon page HERE on top of the BOGO sales.
Ideally – you will have two manufacturers coupons to go on the products (one on each item) and maybe even a store coupon or competitor store coupon to add on top of each one of those. At first this will be rare – but the longer you practice – the more it will happen for you.
If your coupons are organized – it will not take up too much time. Spending some time each week on sorting and storing your coupons, then pulling them to match up with your BOGO shopping items – well – it is WELL WORTH the EFFORT. You’ll be thrilled when you can cut your grocery shopping bill in half or more with this technique.
Begin with BOGO’s – add the coupons as you get more organized and well practiced. It will pay off!
It’s like getting paid for a job well -done.
You will save a bundle on groceries and add a bundle to the savings account!
Have you tried shopping BOGO’s before? How did it work for you or what went wrong?
Sticking to it is key – as well as aiming for that six week mark.
Growing fresh veggies and buying local produce will also go a long way towards more savings for the family. And we will get into more of that soon as well as helping you find coupons for fresh foods and specialty items.
